Bright (not so much) and early Saturday morning a sweet friend and I grabbed our coffee and headed for Essex.
Each year the Garden Club hosts a plant sale on Mother's Day weekend. It begins when the bell rings at 9am. I'll give you a hint ... if you want the "good stuff" you need to be in line by 8am.
While waiting in line, you get to know those around you, share a few gardening secrets, have that second cup of coffee and perhaps a homemade treat made by these lovely ladies.
There is also a Treasures sale ... I'm so using that line when we have our tag sale ;)
They have some home good items as well as garden goodies. I did have my eye on a couple topiary fences but they were quickly nabbed ~ darn!
I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would have liked due to the relentless drizzle. Note the white tents with the their shop signs. So cute. The Garden Club members all wore hats decorated with flowers. So much classier than name tags don't you think?
On the other side of The Green there were annuals to be found, succulents in handmade cement urns and beautiful herbs. I did pick up a beautiful pot of herbs to give to the hostess of the party that we attend Saturday night.
This was my first round ~ I managed to grab the desired shade plants on my list. Within a matter of minutes the entire back of my SUV was filled to capacity as well as the back seats.
The best part of these sales are the prices ... CHEAP!
Jane and I did a little poking around in the local shops. I am on the hunt for dresses to wear to the weddings we are invited to this summer.
We rested our weary feet while enjoying a delicious lunch with a glass of wine ~ living the life! :)
It was the perfect day with the exception of the torrential down poor that caught us unprepared ~ wet is an understatement.

Sounds like a fun day! I wish I had more of a green thumb. Mine is more black. :)
Not only does that sound like so much fun and right up my alley, but the ambiance is gorgeous! I would love to visit you some day, you have a very beautiful area to live and explore!
By the way, your new profile picture is gorgeous!
What a lovely day even with the downpour! I enjoyed seeing your pictures.
This sounds like so much fun...even the rain. We really need rain here or all of the pretty green is going to be pretty ugly soon. I'm glad you found some goodies and had a nice day. You'll have to share with us the dresses that you find.
Sounds like a great event! Our plants sales start in a couple of weeks!
That sounds like a wonderful day and that you came away with some great finds! I missed one of the garden sales at a local historic home this weekend. Bummer. But, I hope to catch another one in late May.
The garden club sale sounds like so much fun- way better than just going to the nursery. I wish we had something like that here. xo xo
That sounds like it was so fun!
Stop by my blog tomorrow for a little shout out to you.
Happy Tuesday.
Oh what a wonderful day. What does a little drizzle matter when you are with a lovely friend having so much fun:) Gorgeous looking plant stalls! Wishing you a wonderful week Jo ~ Tina xx
I'm jealous over you day... that's exactly what I'm needing at the moment... plants!!! and lunch out... great combination :)

What an absolutely dreamy day... So relaxing and lovely. And your pictures capture every moment. Felt like I was there too... kind of. LOL
Glad you had such a day!
Hi Jo,
I just enjoyed catching up on your blog. It's such a lovely glimpse of what the future holds when the children are older. I find myself getting a little lost as I read, like a little daydream.
I really enjoyed your post about your dinner on the beach with your husband. Isn't that how it goes?! I find a sense of humor takes a married couple FAR. :) I don't know how people make it without it!
As for your question, here is a really poor description on how to make photos large: http://3littleloves.blogspot.com/2010/03/go-large.html I had a friend ask and so I did this post on it. But you'll have to forgive me as I'm NOT a technical person. If you read it and are still confused, just let me know. The only thing I would change on this post is that when you resize the photo, I've actually have been entering 650 for the largest dimension. (That should make sense after reading the post--but let me know if I've completely confused you).
Good Luck!
Sounds like so much fun!
I would say that I totally agree, that was indeed a Perfect day! I want to find a place exactly like that, but here!
By the way, today I bought the ingredents for your chicken/sausage recipe and tomorrow I am going to have it for dinner. It looks so good! I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have a good, good day!
Joyce

Looks like a fantastic day! (Minus the drizzle). I love a good deal.
I'm a total black thumb, but I have made a resolution to try and develop a little potted garden on my deck once it is painted. I'm hoping to keep them alive for one season. lol.
