Ped ~ egg ~ cure

Thursday, July 31, 2008 | | 4 comments
A friend and I had a date for pedicures this afternoon. Her little guy wasn't feeling very well so we had to postpone our outing. While I certainly understand, there is no way my toes could make it to the re~schedule date.
I have never been one to purchase the endless list of products seen on TV. However, this one did tweak my curiosity. When I saw it at Target for a mere 9.99, I bought it. I had no idea what to expect. Surprisingly, I was very happy and somewhat shocked with the results. It actually does a great job! It doesn't have the same relaxation as a pedicure in a salon but it gets the job done! I added my favorite pink OPI polish and I'm refreshed and ready to be seen in public once again.

Rain, rain, come again

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 | | 1 comments
I love falling asleep to rain. The sound of the drops on the roof and against the windows is so soothing. It lulls me into a deep sleep. After weeks of no rain and hot, humid temperatures, we finally got rain last night!

Our lawn has turned from a lush green to a lovely burnt brown, our flowers are struggling to survive and look pathetic even though I water every day. The weeds however are alive and well! They are only thing flourishing and are as happy as can be.

I'm afraid to even suggest this ... we need a few days of rain. During the week please, we have plans outdoors this weekend. Not to be picky.

Great evening out!

Wednesday, July 16, 2008 | | 2 comments
What a fabulous evening! We went to a local spot in Mystic that is on the water and next to the marina. The breeze off the water was great {90 and humid here yesterday} and they had a local band playing
This was our view After I looked at the pictures I asked him why he wasn't smiling ~ this child always has a smile on his face ~whether he is up to good, bad, or indifferent. Uh mom, did you realize the sun was pelting me in the face and I couldn't see even with my sunglasses on? Oops ~ how was I to know that? My back was to it.
It was such a wonderful treat to spend one on one time with my son. I just don't get that anymore with his busy work and golf schedule.
Thanks Nick, I had a fabulous time!

He approached me this morning out of the blue while I watering my window boxes.

I must say he is very good looking ~ tall, blond, beautiful blue eyes, charming, sweet, and just an all around GREAT guy!

him - what are you doing tonight?

me - I'm not sure why?

him - would you like to go out to dinner?

me - maybe. what time?

him - I get out of work at 5pm

me - ya, I could probably be free by then

him - I'll even pay

me - ooooh, a REAL treat!

him - big smile (gets me every time!)

Hey, it's not everyday your teenage son asks you to dinner AND offers to pay!

Saying Good-Bye

Friday, July 11, 2008 | | 2 comments
It's never easy saying good-bye to good friends. Our friends are moving next week to their new duty station in the mid-west. We will miss them. Our girls are the same age and we have lots in common so a bond was quickly built. Somehow our husbands were gone around the same times so we had some great adventures together! I will miss Jennifer's no-nonsense and matter of fact personality. Not to mention the free medical advice ; )

I am hosting her farewell this evening. It's a beautiful day here in southern Connecticut so we will be able to enjoy our new patio. We are starting off with brie {a staple around here} with a fresh fruit salsa. For the main course we are having Agapi Salad and my new find - roasted garlic ciabatta bread. It's even better when you serve it with additional roasted garlic and whipped butter. This is NOT the evening to count calories! This salad is amazing - I copied it for the local Greek restaurant. Due to the abundance of blueberries, I made a blueberry and peach cobbler for dessert. Not to mention that the wine cooler is stocked and ready to go!

I hope Jennifer enjoys a relaxing evening with her friends before the packers arrive to pack her and her family out.

Fair Wind and Following Seas!

Off to a running start ...

... or, not so much! This was a little more difficult than I thought it would be. Perhaps it’s just the operator! Anyway, I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with my family so far away, our friends that have moved, as well as those who are near! Not to mention the new ones I will make. Forgive me, it may take awhile to get my feet wet!
