Weekend recap

Monday, February 7, 2011 |
This weekend just flew by at record speed. I did manage to get quite a bit accomplished and I'm feeling pretty good heading into the new week.

Saturday was spent in showrooms making (trying to make) final decisions on new granite for the kitchen. I'm trying to keep it light in color as the back of the house, where the kitchen is located, gets little natural night. At first, I wanted to go with marble but we've been talked out of it by many people. We cook A LOT in our home and marble just didn't seem to fit in with our lifestyle. We've narrowed it down to two colors and I have to make the final decision this week as our new cook top has been ordered and is on its way. Did I tell you I'm being treated to a new one? Last week, while making dinner, I also provided a fireworks show. Yep, always a party here in our home. I shorted out two of the four burners! How you ask? I have NO idea! Thankfully my husband was home so no real damage occurred. After a long day of looking at stone, we met up with friends at our favorite sushi spot for a fun and relaxing evening.

Thoughts?

Along with millions of others, we hunkered down Sunday evening with high caloric, but oh so good, game food and watched the Super Bowl. This years gathering was on the smaller side and most enjoyable. It was a good game but I'll be honest, I'm really in it for the food, friends and commercials : )

We ate well!
Back to healthy eating today.

Love the granite on the right side. I was also talked out of marble. Now I know why...we spill everything on our counters...especially the kids.

Good luck picking one.

Both stone colors are nice...what color are your cabinets? I think I like the lighter color on the right, but if you have white cabinets, maybe it's better to with with the darker stone? Not much help, am I? Hope you're staying warm!

I'm with you on the healthy eating today!
I had the granite on the left side in my old condo. Never shows dirt. it's awesome.

Jo, your food looks delicious!

I like the granite on the right. The one on the left reminds me very much of the granite in my kitchen.

Can't wait to see the finished product~I'm sure it'll be beautiful!

I'm with JMW. We have winter white cabinets and what looks like the granite on the left. They look stunning. Both are great looking though!

Very exciting! i adore granite and it changes a kitchen!!! Our water heater decided to leak right before the game... yikes... but we learned something, the best time to shop at Lowes for a water heater is during the super bowl.... we were the only shoppers in there and had great service :)
I would love to meet for coffee, wine or both! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I like the granite on the right... the lighter color. We did something very similar in our kitchen remodel and I love it!

I'm so excited for you. I love home improvements. Both are very nice and either choice will look good. My favorite is the right side. I'm sure your kitchen is going to look gorgeous.

I'm drooling over that dip. It looks so good.
