Acts of Kindness
{Country Living}
As I pondered at all that was so quickly about to arrive, I realized that once again I was being swept up into the enormous vat of commercialism.
This almost got the better of me once again this year.
Luckily, I stopped myself before it had a chance to take hold and dictate my Christmas season.
I'm celebrating the season with a different flare and I invite you to join along!
I've had an insanely crazy busy week and I know that this will be the norm until after the holiday season.
However, I made a point this week of sticking to my newly appointed agenda. Doing for others to better appreciate all that I have and the ability to share.
While standing in line at the Commissary {military market} I noticed how well behaved two small children were behaving {just before the dinner hour}. Normally I would have kept this thought to myself but I ventured out of my box and expressed my delight and complimented the mother on her lovely children's behavior.
Cost:
A mother's hard work is acknowledged
While paying for my coffee one morning, I paid for the car behind me.
Cost:
A smile on my face and knowing that I put one on someone else.
Many food drives are being held during this time of year.
I've made a point of donating complete meals to several.
Cost:
I'll be able to enjoy my next meal knowing that another family will too.
My goal is to do at least 3 random acts of kindness a week. It's doesn't have to cost money, time or energy.
Please won't you join me during this season of love to mankind!

So nice!

I always tell moms when their kids are being well behaved! Nothing can turn a day around than a stranger letting you know your hard work is noticed :O)

What a beautiful reminder of what this season is about. I will look for ways to bless others also. Thanks for your wonderful examples and a meaningful message at this time of year.

This is a beautiful thought and one that my sister and I have gone back to time and again. We envision a time in the future when we will be living together and practicing a life full of anonymous random acts of kindness....a sure way to living a fulfilled and satisfying life. A means to give back to a world that has blessed us..to pay forward the kindness we have received....Until then, small moments, little things, even a smile can mean so much...every day. Imagine a world where this way of living was the norm!Great post!

I'm with you Jo. You have done some really sweet gestures and I'll do the same. Great reminder.

Many Blessings, ~Melissa :)

PS I can't get Alex to put the blackberry down for a moment.
Even on our walk last night he was reading it. LOL! :)

What a wonderful gesture. I often think that the kindness of strangers is what we should be practicing at home more often. How often do you offer up a smile to a stranger and forget to smile at your kids or husband.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Jo,

that is so lovely and sometimes if you share or do a kind act towards someone, makes everyone feel happy.
Wouldn't the world be a better place.

Thank you for reminding us of this and we need to try these random acts of kindness, every day.

Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn

Absolutely wonderful reminders. I've heard of friends and neighbors gathering together each week to celebrate the Advent season together. What a great way to share love and kindness!
