Snow day ...

Thursday, January 13, 2011 |
We were treated to the true definition of a nor'easter. At 3:30 am I was awoken to loud claps of thunder and bright lightening! Not the most pleasant way to wake. I had to peek out and assess the progress of the storm. It was well underway.

The surrounding school districts called it correctly and canceled schools the night before. That is my idea of a special treat :)

These are a few of the photos I took to capture my snow day.

The first of many passes the plows made in our subdivision.

This was taken at 6:30 am. By mid morning, the snow was over little Bentley's head. I had to go out and rescue him when he tried to follow Bozley.

A winter wonderland in my very own backyard.
So peaceful.

This little guy, tucked safely on our front porch, wasn't spared from the blowing effects of snow.

Hard to tell, but this is an urn on my back patio. That is actually a small wall in the back drop. The inches of white continue to accumulate.

There is just something about a snowy night and a home lite with the warmth of light. We have a delay this morning.
While I'd love to enjoy one more day snowed in my home, I'll appreciate the return when June rolls around and we have one less day to make up.

Wow, you really did get a lot of snow! Very pretty. It's snow day 4 down here and we might have 2 inches! It's cold and mostly it's the ice keeping the schools closed. I am getting a little bit tired of it!

Oh my goodness! How many inches did you get? Maybe I should ask how many feet? The pictures are great!

Your area of the country is really getting slammed with this weather! Looks like you're dealing with it well - that soup looks delicious!

Beautiful photos! I love watching it all come down but the day after it is just a big pain. I've totally had to rescue my Sadie from big piles too. She gets so excited and forgets how small she really is. Enjoy your snow day!

I was wondering how you were doing with the storm; looks fine as long as you can stay home! The photos are lovely and capture the day; be safe~

How beautiful. I have snow envy! I understand though, come June we do regret those snow days.

Your house looks lovely all lit up with the snow around it.

Have a great Friday!

Hi Jo,

My goodness that's a pile of snow! That's so nice of your neighbor to plow it for you...great neighbors are priceless!

Here's the link to that photo project you asked me about: http://www.mcpactions.com/blog/2011/01/05/mcp-project-52-one-photo-a-week-join-in-anytime/

You should look into it. I wanted something to help boost my photography skills without being overwhelming...doing a picture everyday is way TOO much but one a week is perfect!
