His Day

Thursday, June 21, 2012 | | 10 comments
I thought I'd better get last weekend's festivities up before another weekend arrives ...

This year my husband enjoyed a two part Father's Day. On Mother's Day {yes, I loaned him my big day} we traveled to New York for a Yankees game.

This isn't necessarily my idea of a great time but I will admit that it turned out to be a fun filled {hot} day. A good friend's husband orchestrated a bus trip for his employees and invited a few of their friends along. Since Kevin likes the Yankees, has wanted to go to a game and I'm a fabulous wife {insert hearty laugh} we happily boarded the bus. Thankfully this bus wasn't yellow and I wasn't in charge of everyone on it! :)

We were able to arrive well before any other fans and enjoyed a ballpark lunch in a private party setting. One of my dreams came true ... endless supply of popcorn! Yum :)
If only I could convince Kevin we need a popcorn machine for our home!

We had good seats but the afternoon sun baked us! I ended up with a lovely sunburned nose ~ my students thought it was funny.

I caught a little grief from our friends because I didn't have any Yankee gear ~ sorry, I'm not a billboard.

On Sunday { Father's Day} we enjoyed breakfast at The Shack after church, we worked in the yard and I made Kevin a special dinner.

We enjoyed asian chopped salad, bacon rubbed chicken skewers with a thai marinade, and manly chocolate cupcakes with kahlua frosting. June 2012 024 June 2012 028

Then it was time for gifts. Bentley's motto is *better to help open a gift than just let it sit there.* Much to his chagrin, he wasn't allowed to rip the paper off.

The mustache glasses are an on going joke in our home. Kevin grew a mustache last year while on the submarine. He came home and ~surprised me~ with his new addition. For several weeks he continued to annoy me with the furry patch on his lip. After my threatening to shave it off in the middle of the night, he finally relented and shaved.

The kit is from William Sonoma ~ I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ending a very nice day with chocolate!

My handsome son is celebrating his birthday today!

I wish I could spend his special day with him but I'll see him soon and we'll make up for it up then!

He is a kind and considerate young man ... a mother's goal come true. Each day I am inspired by his determination, ethics, and compassion ~ the tables are starting to turn and he is now beginning to teach me life lessons.

Yep, I think it's pretty neat!

Have a FABULOUS birthday sweet boy!
I love you tons and tons! :)

My idea of an ideal Friday night dinner!!!

My husband would think this was an appetizer with dinner to follow. Not tonight. It's just me.  He's off on a guy's weekend of sailing races.

This is actually a good thing. I really need to focus and gain control of my spinning out of control life! Beginning in May the pressure and chaos reaches an all time high with all my school and personal activities. There is only one speed during this time ... full blast!

I feel like I'm crawling to the finish line of a v e r y long race! I'd be giving myself a lot of credit if I told you my head was above water. It's not ... not even close! It's been a long {and rewarding} school year. My body and brain are telling me it's time for a little break.

This weekend my goal is to regain some control of our home. If all goes well, I hope to hit the farmer's market in the morning and the beach after church on Sunday. These are some major goals gals! :)

I'm about a year behind on posts but I hope to share soon. School is out in 4 days ~ woo hoo!

Have a wonderful weekend.

A Giggle Worth Sharing!

My husband told me he took a few photos this morning ...

Bozley on the other hand, doesn't want to be bothered with such nonsense and often just turns away with a look of disgust. It's rather comical.

Yes, the table was cleaned and No we don't allow the bullies to dine with us much to their chagrin!

May Day

Happy May Day!

029

When I was a little girl, I always looked forward to May Day. My mom would let me cut flowers from her garden, decorate a hanging vase, and then I was off and running to hang them on unsuspecting door handles.

This morning I treated my friends to pretty May Day posies.

Sunday Morning Sweetness

When my son was first diagnosed with a corn syrup allergy I purchased a bread machine. I loved it! I made many different types of breads, pretzel dough and pizza dough for Friday nights. It died a few years ago and I just never got around to replacing it my beloved machine. Truth be told, I can now buy many of the items I "had" to make for my son ... we've come a long way in a short time with food allergies.

This past Thursday night my husband and I had a shopping date {his favorite kind of date! Well, maybe not but he was a good sport.} William Sonoma was hosting an event with extended hours and there were a few items which I was in need of purchasing{wanted badly}. The closest one to our home is 45 minutes away so we made an evening of it and went to dinner at a fabulous Italian place near by afterwards.

I've been eyeing the Breville bread machine for a while now. I did my research and came to the conclusion that this was the machine for me! We also managed to walk out with a new pizza stone for the patio grill, a couple of cooking utensils, and a few yummy products they were demoing. What I didn't realize, was that my husband decided to become a Williams Sonoma official taste consultant. Every time I turned around he had something new to sample!  He became fast friends with the chef that was there from Watch Hill. As a matter of fact, I believe they made plans to have dinner next week at his restaurant! I hope I was invited too :)

Oh, the funniest part of our {date night} evening was that Kevin won a great giveaway gift as he was grazing through the store!

It was a fun and very successful shopping evening for both of us!

I've been itching to put my new bread machine to work. What's better than cinnamon rolls on a Sunday morning before church?

This is what I LOVE most about a bread machine ... you dump everything in and walk away!!

I made the dough, and assembled the rolls on Saturday night. This morning I pulled them out of the frig, let them rise, and popped them in the oven. The baking goodness was amazing. The finished product was delicious!

The layers were light and fluffy with just the right combination of cinnamon and brown sugar. The cream cheese frosting was perfection!

I may need to make these every Sunday morning!

Join me in wearing blue today in support of World Wide Autism Day.

A few of my sweet kiddos {and their wonderful families} deal with the challenges of autism each and every day.

To date, there are still so many unknown factors and the numbers rise daily. The autism spectrum is wide with puzzling effects and hidden answers.

Thank you!
