Ending the Year

Saturday, June 12, 2010 |
These cuties are in our Title1 Pre~K program. Their school years starts a few days later and ends a few days earlier than the rest of our school. This is all based on how the grant is written.

I had to say good~bye to these little guys this week. I've watched them explore, learn to socialize and grow into such wonderful individuals. Sadly, they won't be returning to our school next year. They will attend their home school for kindergarten.

I will SO miss their smiling faces and excited exclamations when I walk in the room. There is nothing better for your self esteem than when they shout out your name and are truly thrilled to see you each day.

Childhood ~ nothing can compare to its honest emotions.

Judge me if you'd like but I LOVE playing with Potato Heads. Seriously, if you've never had one you need to run out and buy a set. You'll be hooked.

On their last day we pulled out all the bins and had a fabulous time creating and chatting. Oh the things you learn from 4 and 5 year olds! They will tell you anything and everything in full detail. I could share some very interesting stories with you ;)

Just in case you didn't see the resemblance, this is me ;)

I promised not take it apart so if they come to visit we can play with it again.

You've all stolen a piece of my heart.

Have a wonderful summer.

I'll miss seeing you next year!

If any of my teachers were as pretty as you I might've been happy to see them too! I had lots of miserable teachers through the years!

I love this post Miss Potato Head! Don't know if I've ever told you this, but I am called upon regularly to sub. for a title 1 Pre-K. Love those kids and less than half actually spoke English at the beginning of the year. It amazes me how much they have grown in one year socially, academically, and physically.
I know that you will miss them, but you have earned a much deserved break. Enjoy.

This is the cutest post ever! Having a school year end is such a bittersweet event, isn't it? I think it effects both students and teachers the same way. At first when I read this I thought, 'how lucky you are', but truly the kids were the lucky ones to have such a caring and playful adult in their lives. I would encase Mrs. Potato Head in a case and proudly display her on a shelf or mantle.

I also just want to say thank you for the lovely comments you leave me here and there. I love coming over to your blog too. It' so peaceful and serene and you inspire me to get out into my garden more. I have all these wonderful veggies growing and I haven't harvested anything myself yet!

Have a great week ahead. :) xoxo
