Resuming reality

Most of the Christmas decorations are put away. Our tree is still up which is not like me to leave it up this long. I feel like the holiday season rushed by me this year. I want a few more evenings to enjoy our tree of white lights filled with years of memories. Our Christmas tree, like many of yours, tells the story of who we are, what we've done and where we have traveled.

We had a most relaxing and enjoyable weekend. My brother and his family are safely back in Michigan. I talked to my nieces yesterday afternoon and they are still excited about their trip to Connecticut for Christmas. It was a Christmas filled of memories made and many memories shared. I'm looking forward to our next family gathering. Their visit reminded me that time goes by all too quickly and we need to make the effort to be together more often despite our busy schedules.

My husband and I had a most relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
With school back in session tomorrow for me and my husband returning back to work after the holidays, I wanted to have a smooth transition back to reality.
I've shared before that I'm very organized and at times a little over the top in this area. There is no way I could return to school without having everything in order. This includes a current "to do" list and my weekly menu and clothing schedule in place. So Saturday morning I made my lists, did a Trader Joe's and BJ's run and finished up the laundry. Last night we went to Frank Pepe's {pizzeria} with our very good friends. It was fun to catch up on each others Christmas adventures. We ended our evening with the most amazing chocolate martinis ~ so yummy!
This afternoon we went and saw The Blind Side. If you haven't seen it yet, you must! It's an amazing story from both sides ~ what an incredible family to take such a chance and such a deserving young man with amazing natural talent. I was told that I'd laugh and cry ~ bring extra tissues!
It's a chilly evening of 12 degrees outside so I'm curling up in front of the fire place to read The Help for book club this month.

Good for you on being so organized! I feel so behind after being gone for 2 weeks. I am trying my best to catch up on laundry, putting away clothes, and taking down our Christmas decorations. With 5 little ones running around, it'll take me a while!!

The Help is great!! Our Book Club read that a few months back...this month's choice is Say You're One of Them. I am the same with my lists, etc... and we don't even have kids yet! ; )

Hi Jo,

Sounds like you have had a fabulous time with your family.
I love all your Christmas decorations and it is a little sad when the tree comes down. But a good feeling to be organized and have things ready.

Happy Sunday
Hugs

"There is no way I could return to school without having everything in order." So good to know that there are others out there like me today!! I was like a crazy women trying to get organized to go back to work (teaching Kinders)tomorrow. All of your seafood yummies have made me very hungry for some seafood. God bless your hubby & bro for making such a feast. Wow-the memories you made!

I have that book on Audiobooks to play in the car but haven't started it yet. Starting Same Kind of Different as Me in a few days...

How was your first day back? Really wasn't so back for me... in fact, it went kind of fast! But too cold. Felt more like Connecticut than South Carolina! LOL

I know, I want to keep my tree up a little longer. I didn't get around to taking the ornaments off yesterday - maybe later this week. Try to stay warm and good luck in heading back to school!

How wonderful that you had such an enjoyable Christmas!!! It did go by a little too fast this year, didn't it?! We haven't taken our tree down yet either...I'm ready to get things back in order, but it always depresses me a little to pack it all away!

Hope the back to work week is treating you good!!

Glad you had a great Christmas and new year!

I loved the Blind Side as well, so inspiring!

It's amazing how different our weather is. Southern California has been the hottest in the nation. Right now we're in the high 70s. It's actually kinda sad to not have a real winter =(

Hello and Happy New Year! Sounds like me, as we put away most Christmas decorations minus some ornaments and greens on the fireplace mantel and dining room buffet. Our tree was taken down over the weekend also. I, too, could not start back into the routine without as much as I could put away. besides, I didn't want to be the only cleaning up after the holidays...so it became a family affair!
We also saw the Blind Side as a family last Saturday night. Very good movie. Sandra was terrific!
I have heard so much about The Help and want to read that.

Happy New Year! It's been awhile since I stopped by here.

I saw The Blind Side on New Year's Eve, and read The Help last year. I hope they make The Help into a movie, too!
