Candy Land

I'm not sure who's idea it was to venture into the city but we {the adults} were all foolish enough to agree and follow along. It was a very, very, very cold day. The temperature didn't make it above 20 degrees all day and the wind was whipping all around.
We ditched the boys {not for long} and went to American Girl. I must admit that I enjoy going in there just as much as the little ones.
Molly and Mia have quite a collection of dolls, outfits and accessories. It's always fun for me to shop for birthdays and holidays. I think it's rather sweet that both my nieces have dolls with their names.
The children wanted to go to the Museum of Natural History. We happily complied and spent hours exploring. I love watching their faces as they discover and realize their surroundings.
Due to the extreme cold, we passed on the opportunity to skate at Bryant Park. You know it's cold when the children beg you not to go ice skating!
They were MOST excited about visiting the infamous Candy Land in Toys R Us.
If you've never been, it's quite a sight to behold ~ and taste! ;)
The selection of bulk candy is overwhelming and rather pricey at $10 a pound. You'd be surprised how quickly a pound accumulates in those little bags. We had to set a "no higher than" mark on each of the bags. My husband and I learned our lessons the hard way ~ $48 dollars in bulk candy on our first visit!

Even the adults got in on the fun of choosing some goodies for the train ride home. They have candy that I've never heard of nor seen sold in any stores.
We had fun comparing our loot and flavors. I was most impressed with the swirl and multi flavored gummi bears ~ the red is my favorite.
I guess I'll have to go back to get more!
Yummy

Just a quick shot with the Candyman before the sugar rush hit!
Nicholas wasn't with us due to his schedule so we are missing the
oldest cousin in our family.
It would have been nice if we had had our entire family for this fun outing.

That is cold!!! It is supposed to be 16 degrees here tomorrow night, and I am already dreading it (and I'm not even leaving the house!)!!!

Looks like a great day triP!

How much fun! And how lucky you and your family are to be that close to NYC. I love hearing your stories. And how neat to just be able to take the train in.

Make a fire tonight and have a toasty evening with your family... and enjoy your Candy Land treats!

Oh how fun. Ava got the game Candyland for Christmas and we've been on a marathon of game playing ever since.

It's supposed to be very cold here all next week. I'm so ready to move south.

Candy Land looks spectacular! I would LOVE it. But I cannot believe you went into the city... yikes! I avoid it on "good" days. Way too busy right now for me. :)
Happy New Year!

Jo, do you have to go back to school on Monday too? I do hope you get a little longer!

(Oh... and your Snuggie comments have given me an idea for a "Golden Day Give-away"! You are the first, sweet friend, to get the teaser...)

Hubby and I took the kids to the city for the first time earlier this month. I loved the giant topiary dinosaurs in front of the Museum of Natural History. Kiddos loved the ToysRUs CandyLand too. Have a great New Year!
